Yesterday I finally picked up the two books (the silly bookstore forgot to contact me when the books arrived!), and began reading the first one. The concept is rather fascinating, and makes a lot of sense. From his website, here's a short synopsis of it:
Of the countless ways we can show love to one another, five key categories, or five love languages, proved to be universal and comprehensive—everyone has a love language, and we all identify primarily with one of the five love languages: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch.I've just started the chapter on "Acts of Service", so I have a bit more to go, but I knew just by the synopsis what MY type is. And I'm realizing by reading the book what my stbx's type is, as well as why he didn't seem to recognize the severity of the issues in our marriage.
And an even bigger realization I had is why he chose the method he did to "work on things"... a method that I found laughable, but would actually make some sense, based on HIS love language. And I'll talk about that in another post.
But for now I have a question for you... what do you think MY love language is? And if you don't mind sharing, what is yours?
